On February 23, 2007, Brandi Barnes and Catherine Williams after having recently depledged from a plus sized sorority, the two had an idea that they should start a second sorority for plus size women. After putting that idea on hold Catherine Williams decided to try again with the first plus size sorority.

After Catherine Williams depledged again, this time with Moneisha Johnson in April of 2010 the three ladies decided to go with the original plan to start another sorority for plus size women. The foundation was laid for Alpha Pi Zeta Sorority Inc.

As each day passes by and we tirelessly embark on uncharted territories for the advancement of Alpha Pi Zeta Sorority, Inc., our history becomes more meaningful and serves as a beacon upon which future members can reflect and aspire to emulate and replicate.

The official date set by the founders was December 14, 2010 at 10:35 p.m. CST and incorporation was granted on January 3, 2011.
